Barbell.calc Support

Last updated: August 8, 2026

Barbell.calc is a barbell plate and percentage calculator. It is an independent app by an NTR Barbell athlete, made with the gym's permission.

The app works entirely offline and collects no data — see the privacy policy.

Common questions

Why is the total different from the weight I asked for?

The app only loads plates it can actually reach with the plates you have switched on. When your target isn't reachable, the result reads "Closest achievable" instead of "Exact match", and shows the total it could get to.

The usual cause is a plate crossed out in the Plates grid. Turn the missing plates back on and calculate again.

Why do the kg and lb numbers not convert exactly?

Kilo and pound plates are different pieces of metal, not conversions of each other. A 25 kg plate is about 55.12 lb, and a 45 lb plate is about 20.41 kg. The app solves in whichever unit you picked so the plates it tells you to load are real plates, then shows the other unit alongside as an approximation. That's why the second number often has a decimal.

How do I tell the app which plates my gym has?

Tap the circle underneath a plate to cross it out. Crossed-out plates are excluded from every calculation until you tap the circle again.

Note that the plate selection resets when you fully quit and reopen the app — it isn't saved between sessions yet.

What do the collars do?

The collar switch adds 2.5 kg competition collars to the total, one per side. It applies to kilo plates only, matching how competition collars are actually used.

Which bar weights does it use?

The men's bar is 20 kg / 45 lb and the women's bar is 15 kg / 35 lb, selectable at the top of the calculator.

How do I see the tutorial again?

Open the ⓘ button in the top right, then tap Replay tutorial. It runs the intro carousel and the in-app tips again from the start.

Does the app collect any of my data?

No. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no network requests. Everything you enter stays on your device.
